Linking Excel to Sage Line 50, Sage Line 100 and Sage 200 with ODBC
Many Sage users are not aware that they are able to directly access and query their
Sage data from within an Excel spreadsheet, not by importing and exporting files
but simply by setting up a few formulas in Excel.
However, with every copy of Sage 200,
Sage Line 100 and
Sage line 50 Sage include an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) driver
so that you can do this.
With this functionality and the flexibility and ease of use of Microsoft Excel Sage
users can readily get to information that isn't available through standard Sage
reports.
This one day course shows attendees how to install and configure the ODBC driver
and then how to link the information from Sage to Microsoft Excel using Microsoft
query which is part of Microsoft Office.
At the end of the course attendees will be able to create Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
that automatically refresh themselves when opened to create management accounts
and summary management reports and graphs.
By using Excels inbuilt functions attendees will also learn how to produce totals
for their management accounts that do not rely on specific row numbers alleviating
the problems associated with new accounts being added to Sage.
Armed with the knowledge contained in this course some attendees have reduced
the time taken to produce the monthly management reports by up to 5 days.
